Thorsten Hoeger: The Renaissance CDK Developer: Systems Thinking in the Age of AI
AI can generate a complete CDK stack in seconds. But can it understand why your construct choices matter for your organization's security posture? Can it anticipate how today's "quick fix" becomes tomorrow's technical debt?
At re:Invent 2025, Werner Vogels introduced the "Renaissance Developer" — a new archetype for the AI era built on five qualities: Curiosity, Systems Thinking, Clear Communication, Ownership, and being a Polymath. He also warned us about "Verification Debt": code reaching production faster than anyone can comprehend it.
For CDK developers, this creates both opportunity and risk. The opportunity: AI dramatically accelerates infrastructure development. The risk: losing the deep understanding that separates resilient architectures from fragile ones.
In this session, I'll share insights from 12 years of AWS experience on how to become a Renaissance CDK Developer. You'll learn why Systems Thinking - the ability to see how L1, L2, and L3 constructs connect to CloudFormation, to AWS services, and ultimately to business outcomes - is more valuable now than ever. We'll explore practical patterns for using AI as an amplifier of your expertise rather than a replacement for it, and how to avoid the Verification Debt trap in your infrastructure code.
Whether you're building constructs for your team or contributing to the community, this talk will challenge you to evolve your CDK practice for the AI era - not by abandoning what you know, but by deepening it.
Chris Dobson: Orchestrating a workflow in Lambda Durable Functions
There's a new kid on the block in workflow orchestration - the Lambda Durable Function, which allows an orchestration to be created as a single Lambda Function that can run for up to a year. How do you build one? How much will it cost? What pitfalls should you look out for? Can it do everything you need? How do you test or debug it?
This talk will take an existing production workflow and look at how it could be built as a Lambda Durable Function from start to finish. I'll implement the complete workflow, explore how the checkpoint/replay execution model affects the implementation, test and debug it, and look at the built-in observability.

Brian Beach: Agentic coding at Amazon - Lessons from Amazon and our customers
AI coding assistants are transforming software development, but adopting them effectively requires more than just giving developers access to new tools. Drawing on real-world experience from rollout to Amazon's internal developers and AWS' external customers, this session shares practical lessons on what actually works when scaling agentic coding across an organization.
We'll cover five key areas teams struggle with: where to start and why an "Eliminate → Automate → Assist" framework beats the instinct to just "write code faster", how AI compresses sprint cycles and shifts the planning-to-coding ratio to 50/50, the "200mph problem" when code velocity increases 10x but your CI/CD and review processes can't keep up, measuring impact without falling into the metrics trap and preparing your team with training, workshops and customized tooling.
This talk is grounded in data and practical experience, not a product pitch. Attendees will leave with a concrete playbook for adopting agentic coding tools, adapting their processes and measuring the results.
Guilherme Dalla Rosa: Building Secure and Efficient SaaS Platforms on AWS Serverless
Let's go on a journey through the world of multi-tenant architectures on AWS using serverless technologies. We will uncover the key aspects of multi-tenancy, including security, tenant isolation and performance. We will learn how to utilise Cognito for authentication, DynamoDB to store millions of tenant-partitioned records and Lambda for compute.
We will also explore different deployment models and their tradeoffs, how to implement policy-based isolation with IAM to keep our execution context tied to one specific tenant and avoid data leakage. By the end of this talk, you will feel more confident building SaaS applications on AWS with serverless, guided by insights from the AWS Well-Architected SaaS Lens.

Cristian Ciobanu: Accelerating Banking Innovation Through Cloud Technologies
This presentation explores Raiffeisen Bank's cloud transformation journey, showcasing how cloud technologies enabled a robust, easily manageable and cost-effective infrastructure while accelerating innovation. Key architectural decisions, operational improvements and measurable business outcomes from a cloud-first strategy will be discussed, providing actionable insights for organizations undergoing digital transformation.
Anahit Pogosova: Hidden trade-offs in distributed architectures
Asynchronous event-driven architectures enable loosely coupled, scalable and resilient systems. But the devil is in the details and the true complexity lies in how components interact under real-world pressure. Ordering, idempotency, failure handling, latency and cost aren’t shaped by high-level architecture diagrams with boxes and arrows, they’re shaped by the strategies and services you choose to integrate systems in distributed environments.
In this talk, you’ll uncover common design trade-offs behind integration decisions, illustrated with lessons from the field working with services like AWS Lambda, Amazon DynamoDB and AWS Step Functions. You’ll leave with a sharper intuition for how distributed architectures behave and how to design event-driven systems that are both resilient and intentional.

Markus Ostertag: Is AWS European Sovereign Cloud the resolution to uncertainty?
Digital sovereignty is a complex topic. With many dimensions like innovation, control and cost, finding the right balance is hard. In this session we dive into the AWS European Sovereign Cloud: what it is, how it works, what builders need to know and why it could be the solution for customers with stringent sovereignty requirements.
[Closing Keynote] Aleodor Tabarcea - I, Architect: Why Human Wisdom outlives the Code
We are in the middle of a massive industry panic. With AI generating boilerplate, fixing bugs, and writing entire modules in seconds, the natural fear is that developers are becoming obsolete. But what happens when the cost of generating syntax drops to zero? The value of human wisdom skyrockets.
In this closing keynote, Aleodor explores the "Seniority Paradox": the reality that AI is incredibly smart, but entirely devoid of wisdom. We aren't being replaced, we are being promoted. Drawing from real-world transitions in building AI-native products, this talk is a survival guide and a manifesto. It's about why critical thinking, empathy and deep architectural understanding are the only things that turn a chaotic 'config file' into a product that actually serves humanity.
The code might be cheap, but the architect has never been more valuable.
