Serverless AWS Development with LocalStack: From Basics to Advanced Debugging

24 Apr 10:00 - 13:00 0 open spots

📍 Amazon Romania office - UBC0, Iulius Mall, et.4

This hands-on workshop guides participants through local serverless AWS development using LocalStack, starting with the fundamentals and progressing to more advanced debugging and testing techniques. Attendees will begin by running core AWS serverless services such as Lambda, API Gateway, S3, and DynamoDB locally, deploying real applications and infrastructure without needing an AWS account.

Building on these basics, the workshop explores end-to-end testing of event-driven serverless architectures, using Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation or Terraform) with LocalStack, and integrating local execution into modern development workflows. Participants will also get hands-on experience with the LocalStack integration in the AWS Toolkit for VS Code, enabling live debugging of Lambda functions, faster iteration cycles, and deeper insight into serverless behavior before deploying to the cloud.

The workshop also introduces LocalStack App Inspector, a powerful new capability that provides deep visibility into serverless applications. App Inspector enables developers to explore serverless application topologies, trace requests across services, and perform fine-grained inspection of complex workflows, making it significantly easier to understand, debug, and reason about real-world serverless systems during local development.

By the end of the workshop, attendees will have a practical, production-ready workflow for developing, testing, and debugging serverless AWS applications locally - helping them move faster, reduce cloud costs, and ship with confidence.
